Step by step directions for adding a search box to your Tripod Web site:

1.		Print this page for easier reading.

2.		Go to www.tripod.com and login to your Tripod account.

3.		Scroll down to the bottom of the page and click on the "FileManager" link.

4.		Click on the directory of the file that you would like to add a search box link to.

5.		Check the box next to the file that you would like to add a search box link to.

TRIPOD SITE BUILDER - If you have been using the Tripod Site Builder tool to create and modify your pages, continue with the following instructions:

6		Open up a new browser window and log into your siteLevel account.
7		Click on the "Search Box Options" tab, and click on the "Use Hyperlink to Search Box" link.
8		Highlight the URL within the code in the text box on this page and , at the very top of your Web browser window (in the top toolbar), click on "Edit" and "Copy" to copy this code. An example of a Search Box Hyperlink URL is the following (however, please refer to your account management area for the correct URL for your account): http://sitelevel.whatUseek.com/searchbox.go?crid=5e24f62657708f46 Please be sure to include the whole URL that lies between the quotes (" ").
9		Go back to the browser window that is logged into your Tripod account.
10		Select the "Edit using Tripod Site Builder." radio button and click on the "Continue" button.
11		Click on the "Add Link" icon at the bottom of the page.
12		Click the "Add it here" button in the area where you would like to add your search box link.
13		Click on the "To another web page (URL)" link.
14		In the "Enter the text that your visitors will click:" text box, type "Search This Site".
15		In the "Enter the URL your visitors will jump to:" text box, highlight "http://" and, at the very top of your Web browser window (in the top toolbar), click on "Edit" and "Paste" to paste your search box URL.
16		Click on the "Done" button.
17		Click on the "Preview Site" icon at the bottom of the page.
18		On the preview page that comes up, verify that the placement of your search box hyperlink are correct. If you are happy with the placement of your search box hyperlink, proceed to Step 19 below. If you would like to change the placement of your search box link on your page, click on the "Edit Site" icon and click on "Move". In the page that comes up, put a check in the check box next to your search box link then click on the "Continue" button in the bottom frame of the page. In the page that appears, click on the "Move it here" button where you would like you search box link to be placed.
19		Click on the "Publish Site" link at the bottom of the page.

FREEFORM EDITOR - If you have been using the FreeForm editor (or if you have been working outside outside of the Tripod Site Builder), please continue with the following instructions:

6		Open up a new browser window and log into your siteLevel account.
7		Click on the "Search Box Options" tab, and click on the "Get JavaScript Search Box Code" link.
8		Highlight the code for your JavaScript search box and, at the very top of your Web browser window (in the top toolbar), click on "Edit" and "Copy" to copy the code.
9		Go back to the browser window that is logged into your Tripod account.
10		Select the "Edit using the FreeForm editor." radio button and click on the "Continue" button.
11		Put your cursor in your HTML code where you would like to add your search box code.
12		At the very top of your Web browser window (in the top toolbar), click on "Edit" and "Paste" to paste your search box code.
13		Click the "Save" button.
14		Click the "Preview" button to verify the displaying and functioning of your search box. If are happy with the placement of your search box, then you have successfully added your search box to your site. If you would like to make changes to your search box placement, you can go back to the HTML editor, delete your search box code, and start over with Step 11 above.

Congratulations! You have successfully added your search box to your site!
