Step by step directions for adding a search box to your About.com Personal Web Pages site:
 
 
1. Print this page for easier reading.
 
2. Log into your siteLevel account.
 
3. Click on the "Search Box Options" tab, and click on the "Get JavaScript Search Box Code" link.
 
4. Highlight the code for your JavaScript search box.
 
5. At the very top of your Web browser window (in the top toolbar), click on "Edit" and "Copy" to copy your search box code.
 
6. Login to your About.com Personal Web Pages account.
 
7. Click on "Change a Page".
 
8. Click on the "CHANGE" button to the right of the file that you would like to add a search box to.
 
 
 
 
NON-HTML EDITOR
- If you are using the GUI (graphical user interface) editor, rather than that direct HTML editor, to edit your Web page, follow the instructions below.
 
9 Click on the "CHANGE" button of the "Text" area that you would like to add a search box to.  In most cases, there will only be one "Text" area on your page.
 
10 Put your cursor in the place in your HTML code where you would like to add your search box.
 
11 At the very top of your Web browser window (in the top toolbar), click on "Edit" and "Paste" to paste your search box code.
 
12 Click on the "Done" button.
 
13 Click on the "Preview Page" button.

Verify that your search box is placed correctly.  If you are happy with the placement of your search box, please proceed to Step 15 below.
 
If you would like to change the placement of your search box, please do the following:
 
a Click on the "Continue" button.
 
b Click on the "CHANGE" button of the "Text" area that contains your search box.
 
c Highlight your search box code (starting with "<!-- Begin siteLevel Search Box Code -->" and ending with "<!-- End siteLevel Search Box Code -->").
 
d At the very top of your Web browser window (in the top toolbar), click on "Edit" and "Cut" to remove your search box code.
 
e You may now try placing your search box again, going back to Step 10 above.
 
15 Click on the "Continue" button.
 
16 Click on the "Save Page" button.
 
 
 
 
HTML EDITOR
- If you are editing your Web page directly in HTML code, please using the following instructions.
 
9 Put your cursor in your HTML code text box where you would like to add your search box code.
 
10 At the very top of your Web browser window (in the top toolbar), click on "Edit" and "Paste" to paste your search box code.
 
11 Click on the "Save HTML" button.

Click on the link to the page that you just edited to verify that your search box has been placed correctly.  If you are happy with the placement of your search box, then you have successfully added your search box to your site.
 
If you would like to change the placement of your search box, please do the following:
 
a Click on the "Back" button of your Web browser.
 
b Highlight your search box code (starting with "<!-- Begin siteLevel Search Box Code -->" and ending with "<!-- End siteLevel Search Box Code -->").
 
c At the very top of your Web browser window (in the top toolbar), click on "Edit" and "Cut" to remove your search box code.
 
d You may now try placing your search box again, going back to Step 9 above.
 
 
 
Congratulations!  You have successfully added your search box to your site!
